whew!!just came back home from wharton's graduation ceremony...probably saw the best 800 business minds of 2007, in the world, getting their degree..was humbled to meet so many great minds & geeks, shd i say??naaah!! :-), they were as ordinary as can be, if not more stylish...well business ppl,wht do u expect...well worth, mentioning here is probably that, I am the proud cousin of one these gr8 minds ..he he he..
one experience of the whole graduation ceremony which impressed and should I say impacted me the most was the presence of Lakshmi Mittal...yes guys,,,,our own richest indian and head of Mittal industries...the 'Lakshmi Mittal'....and his speech during the ceremony...
as any guest of honor,he started off praising the graduates and went blah,blah,blah...but wht stuck me most during his speech is that..he is ordinary...well yes,he is just like any one of us...with fears et al...well,u might think, ofcourse he is ordinary, wht else did u expect??
well, news for you, never thought he would just be like anyone of us...you see, when this arcelor-mittal merge was going on...i was closley following the details and tht is when i came to know lakshmi mittal...and was quite impressed with him.....so you can imagine my suprise and excitement, when he turned out to be the chief guest for wharton's graduation...and as u can imagine, i followed his talk closely...
his speech was as boring as can be,he went on and on about the arcelor deal and how difficult it was to follow it through....but what the rest of us didn't get was what was behind it....he obviously had been through a very difficult time and he was relieved now and that has become the most significant part of his life and how he is so enamoured by the experience that he can't get it out of him and shadows all his talks....i guess...well,what i am trying to say here is...every person has his good and bad times...times when he is unhappy, worried, troubled etc...and time when he is humbled by the experience and just glad that things went welll and just happy that it over....be it be the man next door or the richest india / 5th richest man in the world...everyone had good and bad times...each at their own level.... whew!!what an eye opener :-)
